Global demand for data center infrastructure is accelerating at an incredible rate, as nations around the world increasingly digitalise their economies. Driven by the rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT), the global 5G rollout, and unabated by the COVID-19 pandemic, global data centre spend is set to grow at a CAGR of 15.1% between last year and 2025.

While the majority of investment is still focused on mature, strategically located hubs like Virginia, Singapore, Dublin and the Netherlands, the global data centre market is also seeing strong growth throughout its emerging markets. The South East Asian data centre market is expected to show a CAGR of more than 6% between now and 2025. India’s eight largest cities are expected to cumulatively add more than 10mn square feet of data centre space in the next two to three years alone. Even in the US, which is already home to several of the world’s most mature data centre markets, new interconnection hubs are springing up in Tier-II cities, driven by tax incentives, as well as cheap land and energy prices

This week, Data Centre Magazine has rounded up a list of the top 10 emerging data centre markets around the world.
